Fernando Torres is sure to score 30 goals. ( December 24, 2007 )
LIVERPOOL’S ‘yo-yo’ like performances of late continue, as a great home win against a good Portsmouth side sets us up well for a hectic Christmas week.

It was quite daunting to see that Arsenal were 13 points ahead of us before we kicked off, nothing less than a win was acceptable.

Portsmouth’s game is a relatively straightforward one, based on speed and strength, but in all honesty they caused us few problems. The back four were relatively trouble free, though much praise should go to the brilliant Mascherano who was up against a beast in Bouba Diop.

Yet again his reading of the game was masterful and he gave great protection to the back four, will someone at the club please get a permanent contract on the table for him before we lose him to Barca?

Benayoun and Kewell provided quality on the wings and interlinked well with the front two and Babel showed pace and power when he came off the bench.

Gerrard gave an efficient performance more so than a driving, energetic display we have frequently seen over the past month.

Torres keeps getting better and better, he is such a joy to watch, even my girlfriend shows an interest when he is playing!

He has 14 goals in 21 games so far and I dare anyone to bet against him getting at least 30 goals this season.

We need to go on a 10 to12-game winning streak if we are to be in contention around Easter time. I am confident we will pick up maximum points over Christmas.
